New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is essential and required for all new freshmen, transfer, and full-time College Credit Plus students who are enrolling in fall 2018. You can choose the session that works best for you!

Registration begins at 10 a.m., but you can get a Fast Pass and jump the line at Orientation and you won't have to come to registration until noon!

Registration dates for fall 2018:


Reminder to College Credit Plus, and Advanced Placement (AP) students: To receive credit for coursework, your official transcripts or test scores must be faxed directly from the school's registrar/guidance office or mailed/delivered in a sealed envelope from the office before August 31st. Transcripts can be faxed to Jackie Dove at 740-393-0511 or mailed to MVNU Admissions, 800 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.

Tentative Schedule

  • 10–10:30 a.m. — Registration
  • 10:30 a.m. to noon — Orientation preliminary session and Trigonometry exam
  • 11:30 a.m. to noon — Honors Student Registration
  • 12–12:45 p.m. — Honors Student Lunch (students only)
  • 12–1 p.m. — Lunch break for preliminary session attendees (off-campus dining options)
  • 12–12:45 p.m. – Fast Pass Registration
  • 1–4:30 p.m. — Orientation for New Students and Parents
  • 4:30–5:30 p.m. — Residence halls open for viewing

2018 Important Dates

Aug. 9: Confirmation Deadline (all financial arrangements must be finalized for fall semester)

Aug. 23: New Students and Transfers Move In

Aug. 24-25: Returning Students Move In

Aug. 24-26: New Student Institute (required for all new freshman, transfer, and full-time CCP students)

Aug. 27: First Day of Classes

Sept. 21: 1st day Freshmen may be gone overnight

Sep. 22: SonFest

Oct. 5-7 (tentative): Family Weekend

Oct. 13-16: Mid Term Break
